Booksellers Urged to Report Summons

May 06, 2008

Last week, several bookstore members of the American Booksellers Association received a summons in a civil action brought by Rev. Herman Douglas, Sr., against Rev. Joel Osteen, his publisher, distributors, and retailers.

Any bookseller who has received a summons, subpoena, or any other documents from Rev. Douglas or anyone purporting to represent him, and who has not already been in contact with ABA about this matter, should immediately report it to ABA's industry consultant, David Walker, at davidw@bookweb.org with a copy to info@bookweb.org, or they should contact their own attorney and alert Walker that they have received the summons.

Walker can also be reached at (800) 637-0037, ext. 6612.
