Nominations Needed for Upcoming Lists

The PDF files of the March Book Sense Notables fliers and shelf-talkers, featuring booksellers' comments, are now available on BookWeb's Picks page, along with the full list of March Book Sense Picks titles.

A PDF template of four generic shelf-talkers that booksellers can use to promote their favorite Book Sense Picks may also be downloaded.

Independent booksellers in the Book Sense program will be receiving their printed fliers in the March Red Box. The flier includes jacket images, bibliographic information, and booksellers' quotes.

In addition, there are also three remaining deadlines this month for nominations for upcoming Picks list.

The deadlines for the three lists are:

• February 10 -- Easter/Passover Top Ten
• February 10 -- Poetry Top Ten
• February 24 -- Reading Group Picks

The two specialty top ten lists offer great opportunities for in-store marketing, but it will take active participation to ensure that they are quality lists.

Nominations may be sent by e-mail to picks@booksense.com or via a convenient online nomination form.

The Reading Group Picks list is compiled a bit differently from other lists in its initial steps. For this list, booksellers need only send in a list of five to 10 titles that are favorite recommendations for reading groups. Book Sense will begin to compile the list and then will solicit quotes after the tally is completed. This list is a perennial favorite, with a very long shelf-life and great marketing potential.
