Rock Bottom Remainders All-Star Band Reunites to Play BEA

Move over Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. The latest reunion news in rock ‘n’ roll is that BookExpo America’s house band is returning.

On Saturday, May 4, the Rock Bottom Remainders (RBR) will headline a special fundraising concert to benefit the Book Industry Foundation, which supports the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) and the Association of American Publishers’ Get Caught Reading campaign. The Remainders is the all-star writer band that played to sell-out crowds at the ABA conventions in Anaheim, Miami, and Los Angeles. This year’s concert will be held at New York City’s historic Webster Hall -- located at 125 East 11 Street -- from 9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

An impressive array of writers play with the RBR. For the May 4 benefit concert at Webster Hall in New York’s Greenwich Village, Stephen King will join Dave Barry, Mitch Albom, Roy Blount Jr., Kathi Goldmark, Greg Iles, Barbara Kingsolver, James McBride, Ridley Pearson, Amy Tan, and Scott Turow. The reviews of past RBR shows have been notable, and, as RBR guitarist and humor writer Barry once observed, "This band plays music as well as Metallica writes novels."

Built in 1886, Webster Hall was the scene of the famous costumed balls that raised money for progressive causes advocated by Emma Goldman, Marcel DuChamp and Margaret Sanger. Eugene O'Neil described it as "the jewel of the village."
