Obama Countdown Clock: Another Sizzlin' Sideline?

Two years ago, Bookshop Santa Cruz unveiled the George Bush Countdown Clock, which became a top-selling sideline for the bookstore in the liberal-leaning Santa Cruz community, and for other indie bookstores across the country. Now, Bookshop Santa Cruz has created a spin-off -- the Countdown to President Obama Hope Clock.

Bookshop Santa Cruz fully expects that Obama will be sworn in as the 44th U.S. President, and the clock counts down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until that happens. The face of the clock reads "Countdown to President Obama" and includes a quotation from the senator: "We are the change we have been waiting for."

The bookstore is selling the Obama Countdown Clock in-store and online at www.bookshopsantacruz.com and www.hopeclock.com for $9.95, and it's donating 10 percent of the profits to the Obama for President Campaign.

Store owner Casey Coonerty Protti said that Bookshop Santa Cruz has sold more than 63,000 George Bush Countdown Clocks since 2006, garnering the business over a half a million dollars in revenue.
