Seven New Indies Join ABA in August
The American Booksellers Association welcomed to its membership seven indie bookstores that opened in August, as well as one branch of an existing store.
The East had three August openings: A branch of Chicklet Books in Princeton, New Jersey (see related story), and new stores Hobart International Bookport, specializing in foreign language books, in Hobart, New York, and Phoenix Books in Essex, Vermont.
Thibodaux, Louisiana, welcomed Cherry Books to Canal Boulevard. And Michigan and Wisconsin each boast a new store: Fireside Books opened in Marshall, Michigan, and Mr. Baggins' Book Shop is now selling books and games to the residents of Williams Bay, Wisconsin.
Stately Raven Bookstore opened near the university in Findlay, Ohio, and StoryVille Books is now selling mostly used books in Denver, Colorado.
