Traveling From Hotel ABA to the Convention Center Via Subway -- Pictorial Version

First, get your bearings. Here's an aerial view of Hotel ABA and the two closest subway stations. Although both of these entrances lead to the "Borough Hall" subway stop, we recommend using the Jay Street entrance.

Take the hotel's Jay Street elevator bank to P1 ("Jay Street/Parking Level 1") and walk out onto Jay Street. (To get to the Jay Street elevator bank, follow the ABA directional signs from the hotel lobby.)

Please note:
The Jay Street elevator bank is only operational Monday - Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Please use the Adams Street elevator bank in the lobby at other times, then walk along the side of the hotel to Jay Street.

Cross the street to the "Jay Street-Borough Hall" subway entrance. (The street signs say "Jay" and "Myrtle.") You will see a vertical pillar with a blue "M" (for Metro) on the top of it. Cross the street and head down the stairs next to the "M."
Follow the signs for the A (express) or C (local) trains, uptown towards Manhattan. Have your subway pass ready to go through the turnstiles. Take either the A or C train.

Just in case you need to refill your MetroCard, this is what the ticket machines look like. Some stations will have a staffed ticket booth.

As you can see in this photo, the New York Subway System has friendly, uniformed New York City police officers throughout the subway stations.

There are even musicians to entertain you while you wait for the train.

"Get Caught Reading" on the New York City subway... (This photo was not staged, nor do we know who these people are.)

A typical subway ride.

Get off the train at "34th Street-Penn Station"; follow exit signs for the "35th Street & 8th Avenue Southeast corner." When you get up to the street, you'll see a Starbucks right in front of you and a Staples across the street.

Walk WEST down 35th St. (away from Starbucks and Staples, towards 9th Avenue) for four (long) blocks until you hit the Javits Center.

The first picture is 35th Street & 10th Avenue. The second shows the Javits Center - the large glass building behind the tree.

On your four (long) block walk down 35th Street, you'll pass a NYC police station. If you get hungry, you'll most likely find a hot dog vendor, and if you get tired, you'll most likely find a taxi.

If you want to take BEA's Shuttle Bus from the Penn Station subway to Javits:

When you get off the train at "34th Street-Penn Station," follow exit signs for 33rd & 8th Avenue. Walk down 8th Avenue to 31st Street. On 31st Street between 7th & 8th Avenue (closer to 8th Avenue), there is a green awning where you'll find BEA's Shuttle Bus #4.

If you want to take BEA's Shuttle Bus from Javits to the Penn Station subway:

Take BEA's Shuttle Bus #4 and get off at the Penn Station stop.

Walk down 35th St. EAST back to 8th Avenue. Enter the subway at 35th Street & 8 Avenue -- the stairs are at Starbucks. Follow signs for the A (express) or C (local) trains, "Downtown" or "Brooklyn."

Get off the train at "Jay Street-Borough Hall," following exit signs for "Jay Street/Myrtle Promenade."
When you get to the street, cross Jay Street and enter the Marriott.
